You might have heard we all have different skin tones and undertones. And yes this is true. It is all about the amount of blue and yellow pigment that we have in our skin. Generally spoken – someone with a yellowy skin has a warm undertone and has a bit more yellow pigment. And someone with a more pinky skin tone has a cool undertone and has more blue pigment.
Why would you care? Because if you know your skin tone, you can get a hint on which colours suit you best. So this is super helpful if you want to add more colour to your wardrobe, but don’t know where to start.
Hereby a rule of thumb for skin undertones:
Would you say that silver looks better on you? And do you have a pinky glow on your skin? – Changes are that you have more blue pigment in your skin. This would mean that you are cool toned and you look great in cool tones – pink, purple, light blue and emerald greens, greys and black.
Would you say that gold looks better on you? And do you have a more yellowy brown glow? Then you might be a warm type with more yellow pigment in your skin. This means you look great in earthy tones, browns, creams, rusty colours and grass to forest greens.
Besides the cool and warm undertone, you also need to know whether bright or muted and light or dark colours suit you better. When knowing all this, you can define your colour season and buy yourself a standard colour season fan on amazon.
If you want to know for sure – you can always make use of my colour analysis service. I will show you your colour season, but I don’t do amazon standard fans. As you might have realized by now, there is a lot of nuance in it, and therefore I make every colour palette unique. Most people are a mix of colour types, and I only include the colours that look amazing on you but also give you the vibe you want in your palette.
